What is Dulux Aquatech WRP?

Dulux Aquatech Waterproof Repair Polymer (WRP) is a ready-to-use, latex-based additive which is primarily designed to improve the performance of mortars, bond coats, and waterproofing systems. This versatile product is perfect for repairing damaged concrete structures like columns, beams, chajjas, and parapet walls. It's well-suited for waterproofing bathrooms, balconies, and wet areas. It works well as a Dulux waterproofing solution, providing durability and protection.

Preparing the Surface

The preparation of the surface is essential to do in a clean, dry, and sound condition. You must remove all dust, debris, and loose material with a wire brush, prior to applying Dulux Aquatech WRP. If it is oily or greasy, a degreaser must then be used to remove it. For repair work, cutting the edges of the damaged area to a 10mm depth helps create a better bond. Where breaking is not possible, roughen the surface using light scrabbling. Always saturate the surface with clean water and remove any excess before application.

Using It for Repairs

To create a strong repair mortar, mix the polymer with cement, sand, and water in the recommended ratio. This mix helps restore the strength and durability of damaged concrete parts like beams and columns.

Waterproofing with WRP

For waterproofing tasks, mix the polymer with cement and apply two coats over the surface. It is highly effective in areas beneath bathroom tiles, sunken slabs, small balconies, and parapet walls. Once applied, cover it with a screed layer for additional protection and slope. It serves as an excellent choice for Dulux waterproof paint applications in sensitive areas.

Applying a Bond Coat

For use as a bond coat: mix Dulux Aquatech WRP with cement, and apply to the prepared surface. Whenever doing multiple surface repairs, mix the repair mortar and add it to the bond coat while it is still tacky, which will provide better bonding from the old surface to the new.

Additional Uses and Care

Wall putty can be improved by adding a very small amount of WRP to help with water resistance and adhesion. Always use a mechanized mixer as well.
